To me, there are three different catagories. Non-affordable (Like the Ferraris, in excess of half a million), there's affordable (but honestly, I still don't think I'll ever be able to afford a brand new Cobra), and then there is realistic. Probably a used car, for most of us.

I just got my realistic dream car a few weeks ago. The frame is a 79 GMC, but the body is a 84 Chevy. It's got a 350, but the owner didn't really do it right, it's not geared for those tires, it's a dog. But I can fix that.

It's got a combination of suspension and body lift, and I'm not keen on body lifts, but I'm also not going to take it off, either. 40 inch tires, and if you knew what I paid for it, you'd cry.

Unaffordable: Audi R8 5.2 v10, or a porsche 911 turbo s

Affordable: a C6 Z06, I plan on owning one of these some day, probably used though with low mileage... either that or one of the older 911 turbos, absolutely gorgeous cars

Not even close, and the tires were on the truck when I got it.

I got the whole truck in a trade, for a Ford Tempo. I was into the Tempo about $250 and a few hours of labor fixing a transmission cooling leak, and a few other odds and ends.

So, in the end, that truck cost me about $250 and a few hours of labor.

I also got a 250r for $750. The guy said the bottom end was toast, but when I got into it, nothing was wrong. So I replaced the bearings, and it's going back together as we speak.

Craigslist skills, I has them  I'm gonna have to look into this. I was at the Food Lion Auto Fair at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday and they were wanting a couple hundred dollars for hoods, doors and fenders for 67 - 72 Chevy C-10's. I can get a complete 67 C-10 for $500 with a straight body but no motor/trans. I should snatch it up and part it out.

The 67-72 Chevys are good money, they're in high demand. I just recently bought one (from my father, the same truck I drove in high school) and fixed it up for a friend.

The demand and resale value drops about 50% from 72 to 73.
