Does anyone know if this is a doable swap?
I see the Rotax 257 2-stroke puts out around 65hp.
I know the rumors were that Can-Am was going to use a two stroke in the DS, any truth to this?
If you google the engine, the clutch side looks almost identical to the 450 4-stroke engine.
Thoughts??

any thing can be done sky is the limit.

maybe for drag racing by you would never have a chance vs a banshee. with 150 hps

for mx a 4 stroke will always be better in the turns and put power to the dirt.

the only good thing is that it would be super crazy lite around 300lbs.

maybe for flat track or tt races just my 2 cents.

Yes, this frame had the 250 2-stroke motor in it from the start. Aside from some new motor mounts needed to be machined, the motor should go in the frame quite nicely.

Once in you'll see there is plenty of room for a variety of expansion chamber styles.

The weight would be sub 300 pounds as well because you will be eliminating a pig motor, all the efi stuff including electronic as well as the battery.

I havn't seen any pics of a DS450 with the 250 2-stroke in it, but I did some looking around the web for Rotax 250 engines.
The one I saw caught my eye just because the clutch cover looked identical.
That and the 2-stroke rumors got me thinking.

Just make sure you get one with an exhaust valve otherwise you will not se anywhere near 65 chp if you want any bottom end and midrange in it.

That looks like a great choice!! Six speed tranny, counterbalancer , and pneumatic power valve. kicker could an issue if any unless they have a electric? Making mounts, dont think the swinger bolt goes through frame but making that bracket could leave more options for placement/ location

Yep I would go with PV motor also unless your application is only requiring top end

Oh make a set of spare brakcets an I will buy them :D
