foreman odometer problem

so my 1999 honda foreman odometer keeps resetting after 25 miles of driving the odometer will go back to 8197 then after another 25 it well reset back to 8197 only when you turn the key off so like say you ride 30 miles it will read 8227 and if you stop shut it off and turn the key right back on it well say 8197 again. does this sound like a computer problem or the dash unit itself. thanks and i hope someone has some input thanks again..
