Got my frame today, in amazing condition!! I'm going to try and build an extremely light 88/89 250R ! I have most of the parts, i'm gonna take my time putting this together this fall/winter, here are some pics, sorry its from a cell phone.

So far it will be a ESR 330 PV motor, Burgard +2 A-arms, 400EX spindles/hubs/brakes, oem 89 swing arm, DUrablue X-33 axle with billet hubs, Elka suspension all around, burgard 4130 steering stem. Should make for a very light, fast 250R!!

That looks like an aluminum frame. Is that what that is? If it is i thought aluminum was too weak to be quad frames. But on the other hand, i know dirtbikes are built with some sort of aluminum frame. What is it mixed with other metals or something?

I have the LRD frame with almost exactly the same parts you are listing, i'm running all Roll Design and Axis shocks.....I'm going to try find a scale to see what weight i'm dealing with. Are you running on the track/trails/sand??? Asking for tire weight reasons....

thats true, the brakes are a little bigger, but I have been running 400EX brakes and spindles for the past year, and I love the way it handles and its nice and light. I only feel a small difference between the 400EX brakes and OEM 250R front brakes.

thats wht im figuring out next, i will be riding mostly trails and XC. I have already looked into Hiper wheels, but surprisingly they are no lighter than a aluminum rim, still researching on light but durable tires for the trails.... possibly the oem tires (20x10-9) that the new 4 strokes come with are lighter than say a Holeshot XC?? Gonna look into it.

*Update*

Frame, steering stem, and swing-arm went to the powder-coater today. I went with sort of a different color scheme...

Frame= Gold with metal flake, should look killer.

swing-arm= candy red

Burgard 4130 steering stem=candy red

Ordered: JD Performance +3 long travel a-arms with thier faster caster setup.

In keeping with trying to build a 250R as light as possible, i will be running Fox floats up front, and I am purchasing a pair of quad tech carbon fiber scoops.

I also have one of those old Mair plastic full length skid plates, its really really light, and just enough protection for the type of riding i will do with her. Pics coming soon.

Just curious why you are going with plus 3's if you are running XC/woods? Won't you be hella wide?

Here ya go.... just picked up everything today, these pictures don't do it justice, you have to see the metallic gold and candy Red in the sunlight, it looks great!!
BTW, i am also building a 250X as my play bike, almost done with her, just waiting on a few parts.

So Far, today i put on the Burgard Racing 4130 stem, pro-taper Fat bars, and all Balls bearing and seals. I also put the east Coast ATV bearing carrier in my swinger... enjoy...

hey, !! a lil while back, for a quick minute, i toyed with the idea of selling my LRD frame and getting a Roll frame, but then i realized how rare these aluminum frames are, so I'm back on track. I actually decided to get the main frame powdered metallic silver, and leave the sub-frame gold. I am going to do little accents all over the quad in metallic gold, and the a-arms, stem, and swinger are still Candy red. I'll post some pics later!!!!!!!!!!!!

I seen it for sale too, someone posted the craigslist link to it on the forum here. It's a nice frame and will be a badass quad once it's built up. Keep building it, and post up some more pics.
