i was just wondering how the ds650's compare to a honda 400ex, mods to my ex are in my sig.

whats the advantages and disadvantages of the ds??

also where is the power band geared for, is it the low-end torque like a 400ex or is it the top end haul like a race quad?

Thanks
Josh

the ds 650 is the cadilac of quads. if your a big guy there is no equal.
its reliable like the honda. stock it only has a big midrange, no bottom.
but with a few mods it can make as much power as you can afford. it can be a handfull on the trails, but horsepower will cure anything

on ebay you see them going for 1500-2500. plus shipping of course. on several ds 650 forums i have seen very nice ones with alot of extras, going for as low as 3500. with around 8000 in the motor. so it depends, if you can get one aready set up you will save alot in the long run.

oh yea ehh. im kinda hopping to get one with stock motor, exhaust, nerfs ect. because if its already bored out and everything then its tough to say if it was because they blew it up and its going to happen again soon, or if they raced it. but i cant see myself putting a big bore kit in it, cause there goes the reliability.
I just want one because my 440 is going to go soon, its puffing smoke like no tomorrow and needs a whole new piston and rebuild, but of course 440 is as big as it goes. aha
but racing flat track all summer its been run hard and at first i could keep up with the 450's but now its like a snail.

ride one.
You won't understand how hard they are to muscle around until you do. If you are strong enough to man handle one, then it would work great for flat track, but if not, your left looking at a 450 like the rest of the world

too late. :/ ahah
i never got a chance to ride one, but i bought a trx450r 3 weeks ago i think it was. so im just going to stick with it for this racing season, and plus i got it cheaper then a ds and i didn't have to drive as far.
