An aluminum sprocket will wear ALOT faster.
Steel will last long but will rust. I personally like the aluminum sprockets but everyone has their own preference.

Personally I eat up aluminums like a knife going through butter. I take a new steel, Clean it up with carb cleaner, Put a lil heat to er, and spray it down with some Cold Gal. Looks good, Lasts a good long time and never rusts. Same with the front.... Ride on !!!

I tried an aluminum Renthal rear sprocket once, never again. In 4 months it looked terrible, worse than the stock steel rear looked after a couple years.

Stick with steel, aluminum isn't worth it.

Steel, without a doubt. Don't worry about rust but if you do, clean it up every year or two.

well hey, thanks for all the replies. You've made my decision. Different things for different people. I think the steel will work best for me.

thanks again
