When you installed your UNI Filter on your EX did you have to trim off the black stoppers on the bottom of the air box? I only ask because the filter hits them and I didn't know if it would eventually rip a hole in the filter or something :confused2 Am I just being too paranoid?

Theres two black "fins" on the bottom of the airbox..I noticed when the filter is installed correctly they stick into the filter...so I wasn't sure if I should trim them down, or leave them...

I run a twin air which is a foam filter and never had a problem, it rubs them ,no rips

i would just leave them, i have cleaned the filter a couple of times since i installed it and i havent noticed any problems. i dont think your paranoid but its something that i wouldnt worry about.

I trimmed mine off. No sense in letting those thing dig into the filter while its bouncing around and stuff from the off road abuse. I was worried it would rip it eventually. Better safe the sorry.

I have a K&N and I was having the same problem so I just cut those fins off. There is no need for them unless you put the stock filter back in and why would you do that? Cut them.

Dude bend those things way down and they will snap off. That's what I did and it works great.
