I have a hole in the ground beside my house that bees are in. What is a good way to get rid of them? I have been spraying them for a week now.

It depends on how close to the house it is and if there any open flames near by. But you could pure some gas down the hole and just let it sit, “don’t light it on fire”, just let the fumes sink down the hole and it should suffocate them. Gas fumes are heaver than air so it should work. I know it works on fire ants. You might cover it with a piece of ply wood to help keep the fumes in the hole and them from escaping.

I agree, if you can call him in your area do it.

But really, you want to kill them good? just buy some of that bee spray stuff at home depot and shoot the entire can in there.

Or (I DONT CONDONE THIS BUT IT DOES WORK!)

carb cleaner and a lighter and light them suckers on fire.

Years ago I did the gas down the hole trick. It killed them (and the grass for about 3 years) but the hole was about 15 feet from the house and my basement smelled like gas for about 2 months. I thought the hot water heater would send my house into orbit one day :D

I use parts cleaner to kill them at the surface. I will try some diesel fuel in the hole tonight. Thanks for the idea

you don't need to use THAT much gas. lol About a cup of gas (or kerosene) straight into the hole should do it. I've done it at night and there were no bees at all flying around the next day.

How about some of that expanding foam sealer that comes in a spray can? You could get an old piece of rubber or plastic tubing and run it down the hole and pump it full of foam and just seal them in.

And that was way too much gas.lol

Then you got a foam filled hole lol. I still like lighting them on fire..

I guess you could just drive a wooden stake in the hole and plug it that way.

Burning them is fun too but if they get by the flames they can still get you.

How big is the hole? What if you used a wet vac to suck them out?

I know they use dish washing soap to calm them down when the work around the hives. And they only use a few drops in a 16 oz bottle, so I think is toxic to them in larger doses.
So I’m thinking pure dish soap down the hole and see what happens.

1 cup of Acetone works faster, (3-5 minutes),
disapates quicker, (less than 1 hour),
and wont continue to stink for days / weeks on end.

BUT !,...

Make DAMN SURE there is no source of ignition nearby, (within 30+ feet), for a few hours.

Go ahead,.... ask me how I know this...

Do they squirt the bees with the mixture?

Yes they sometimes use it instead of smoke, they put it in a spray bottle and mist them with the solution. I saw it on the Discovery channel.

Me and a cousin,
Summer in Texas,
a 2" hole in the ground next to the front porch,
bee's flying everywhere....

Some Acetone, a light breeze, and a M-80.
(apparently the breeze was just perfect to get a good supply of air into the hole).

Small hole instantly transforms into small crater, AND takes out corner post of the porch.
Uncle was PI$$ED !

for the next week we were building a new porch, instead of fishing in the stock pond.

It's OK though,... cuz' there were no more fish in the pond.
(due to, we had already used up all of our other M-80's, and a few M-200's).

Strangely, ...
most of the local gas stations, had exploded toilets too !!!
Imagine that !!! who could'a guessed ? ! ? ! ?
had to have been some sort of strange coincedence !

DAMN, it was fun growing up in the 70's !

Let us know if it works, that would be a good non toxic and non flammable home remedy if it works.

The soap didn't work. It soaked into the dirt to fast.

now hit it with the hose and the bubbles will carry them all away. :D

Steak a screen down over the entrance and just poor boiling water down the hole until they are nice and cooked. This should kill them and let your grass live on....but it's not as fun as some gas and fire

Oh well it was worth a try. I’m sure they said it was toxic to them, maybe it takes some time to work.

thats tooo funny Ron!

I still say the fire is the best bet, but pouring down the hole something like acetone works too.

Had the same thing last summer at the roots of a bush I didn't want to lose. Went to Home Depot. They have a special purpose yellow jacket killer. You spray it in the hole at night and it foams up. Next day the bees were gone. Honestly don't know if they died or moved out.

Well I got looking at the hole in the ground. There was a cavity about the size of a basketball so decided to flood it with water. I got the hose and turned it on. The hole filled with water then i took a Stick and opened the hole. This worked good and killed about all the bees.

If you do the gas version poor however much gas you want then cover the hole with a metal can and push it in the ground. another way is get some 7-dust and dump it in the hole and they will be gone. I assume it is yellow jackets right? If it is wait about 2 hours after dark and do it they are like a chickens on a roost. They will not attack you. Dont shine a light right down the hole though as soon as you have done what you need to do shut the light off.
