I wanna build me a GO CART!
But I need ideas! haha I am looking to build something 2wd with stupid power to play with. I'd like to to be able to pull wheelies whenever I want (expected or not) and I want to make sure it is nice and dangerous! Here is a video of something similar I'd like to make:

<object width="660" height="525"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/-UZIcJY-dws?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;color1=0x234900&amp;color2=0x4e9e00&amp; border=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/-UZIcJY-dws?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;color1=0x234900&amp;color2=0x4e9e00&amp; border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="660" height="525"></embed></object>

But I'd change almost everything..
My idea for a fairly cheap pretty B.A. go cart!

CR/KX500 engine
400EX swing arm/shock
DS650 A-arms/shocks
Maxxis Razr Tires f/r
Racing seat with 5-point harness
Full Roll Cage
55-60" Wheel base

Does anyone have any changes they think I should make? I am also thinking about changing out the CR/KX500 motor and put a CB750 motor for the e-start, but I am not sure if it would be worth all the extra weight, however, I do have that motor sitting in my garage!

Input please!

Thank You!
Colton W.

gixxer 1000 engine, those death traps are always wrecked!you could pick up one of the motors really cheap,if you wanna put some more money into it put a ZX14 engine in it or a hayabusa!

If I were you, id build it so that the end of the swinger stuck out past where the engine was sitting.. to try and keep the front end down more.

I dont even see the point in what they built.. its just gonna stand up and be uncontrollable. May be fun for a few minutes, but you cant really drive it or have any fun with it..:ermm:

me and my buddy started building a go cart chassis last year. we used 1 inch tube. made a custom duall 400ex linked and shocked swingarm with a sled motor mounted to the swinger. we converted the final drive for the sled and golf car rear end to run on a sproket. the front end was a lt 230 with the geometry measured out and done on cad. front breaks were a floor mounted 400ex master cylinder with a custom lever made.

almost had it ready to ride and my buddy who payed for almost everythign that wasnt donated and sold it.

That's too much torque for that wheel-base :p, what engine was that?

If I could build one, I'd go with a CR or YZ250 engine, a shifter-kart chassis with suspension and a roll-cage welded on, a long swing-arm, and big tires. I'd rather have low torque at low RPM's and lots of mid & high pep, because if you want more torque you can just lower the gearing. The same goes for a torquey motor, except to even out the torque you'd be gearing higher, and possibly losing mid-high pulling power.

You see R1's in karts but all they do is spin the tires, it's useless.

R6 - it looks deadly fast!

your in so far over your head you have no idea.

so much time effort and money is involved in making something like that, its not worth it unless that's your only hobby. just like anything else pretty much.

my advice, go buy an already made go cart with a 5hp briggs and pretend your doing wheelies.

buy a already made cart so you dont have to build one and slap a muzzy turbo on a zx14 and travel to the future!

The best idea is to take an existing go cart chassis and take a 4 wheeler that has the motor you want, use the a-arms, shocks, engine and swinger from the atv and re-enforce the roll cage.

Theres a yerf dog, go cart that I wanna do this same thing with, theres also mini buggies that are the same concept but take alot of fab work and use gixxer motors.

you can find a gixxer motor for around $500, a cr500 motor alone is around $1000 to $1500, from what Ive seen in the past.

mini buggies.
