this may be a dumb question but..

i have a set of elka front shocks on my 400. i really would like to put them on my 450r but they are like 2 or 3 inchs to long.

someone told me if i let some gas out of them they will be fine.

the 400 doesnt get ridden like that anymore so it doesnt really need that nice of shocks on it. and for them to sit there and be wasted like that, id really like to put them on my 450 and put them to good use. and dont really have 800 or more dollars right now to buy new ones.

anyone have any advice?

ya have it done right! if you try to let the gas out it wouldn't come out even pressure and cause all kind of handling problems

Do it right the first time. Letting gas out of a shock has nothing to do with the length of a shock.

i thought z400 shocks were shorter than 450r shocks by like an inch. i might be wrong but i thought z400 and 400ex's had the same lenght shock unless your 400 was long travel. anyways the shock probably wouldnt be set up properly for your 450r even if they did fit. gt thunder can shorten the shaft and or the body of the shock to fit but ur lookin a a couple hundred bucks to get em redone and revalved to work on your 450r. i think you would probably be better off either selling the shocks and buyin new ones for the 450r or revalving the stock 450 shocks
