buddy of mine bought used 99 400ex. gas leaking from carb, thru black drain hose. screw is tight. does this mean float in bowl is stuck?

Either the float is stuck,or there is a piece of dirt in the needle and seat.A good cleaning should fix the problem :cool:

thanx exactly what i was thinking. just mainly trying to convince him to let me clean it instead of payin somebody 40 bucks an hour to rip him off

hey riotact maybe you can help? for about 5 mo. now ive been looking everywhere i can think of trying to find an aftermarket air/fuel mix screw for my 05 400ex to replace the factory d-shaped one tired of burning my hands!!! any ideas?

If you order the '99 -'04 Carb rebuild kit you also get the luxury of a screwdriver slotted A/F screw and an adjustable needle included. For those of you with '05 and newer non adjustable crap, The '09 -'04 kits will work on the newer carbs. So there you have full adjust ability for Little cash. Alrighty then, nuff Yappin, I'm goin ridin. C-Yas !!!!

Nice tip. I never thought about that but my stocker was from an 01 so thats probly why I didnt.
