Hey guys I recently blew the rings out of my 400 so I decided to order a wiseco 416 kit with a 10:1 piston. The jug is in the machine shop now getting bored out. Whats the difference between the stock engine and a 416 engine with a 10:1 compression piston?

The performance mods I've done so far are: uni filter wrapped in an outerwears, no air lid, stage 1&2 dynojet kit and ground down welds in the head pipe.

Thanks for all replys :)

you should enjoy the difference. once you get some more $$ you can get an exhaust and cam to go with it. they are a great combo together. with the headers ground and your filter it will be a winning combo. overall with the stock cam you will have some great low end and will be fun to woods ride, thats for sure :) steve

Yeah me either haha. I think I'll stick with a hmf or yosh. I hope the 416 wakes up this quad. It never had alot of power to begin with. How much HP does a 416 kit with a 10:1 piston add?

it depends on the hp. I am at 34 hp now with the setup in my sig. thats after 2 yrs of riding on it before running it on the dyno and is pretty much a good average of what most of them are. yosh and hmf are both good exhausts, you will be happy with either. steve

What kind of riding are you going to be doing?

You could bump it up to a 11/1 and still run pump gas, I’m still working on getting Steve to go up to a 12/1 but he’s going to need a few gas cans first. lolhttp://planetsmilies.net/not-tagged-smiley-1955.gif (http://planetsmilies.net)

If I were you, I'd do it while you have it apart. The cam is going to give you a big gain, and it's best not to tear it back apart later if you don't have to. I rode my quad last night for the first time in a while and I forgot how quick it was! It's pretty much just a piston, cam, pipe, filter, and jetting. Nothing fancy, but it rips!

I’ve had good luck with the stock studs on my 416, I don’t think it’s necessary on the 416 but any bigger and I would do the studs.

Take valve cover off, remove the inspection caps and turn the crank to the t-mark on flywheel and check to make sure your cam alignment marks are inline with the top of the head. The cam lobes should be down and the bolt hole on top iirc.

this will get you there for the most part. while you are at it you can adjust the valves too since you will def know if it skipped or something if your valves are open. CJM did a good job with the explanation. it is easiest to take the cover off for the first time to be able to tell. steve

well right now i have the entire topend off. cylinder and all. How would I be able to see if I lind it up right on the bottom end?

oh boy... well your timing can only be adjusted with your cam chain. it would have to be moved on the teeth of the sprockets on each part. it is required to have the top end on it, with the cam in place with your right side(clutch cover)off and your flywheel lineup holes unplugged on the other side. The T on the flywheel has to line up with the correct mark on either the block on on the cover if you have it on. the cam sprocket has 2 lines on it also, these line up with the edge of the cylinder. if they dont with the chain on, it is out of time. with the cylinder off it will be impossible to be able to tell if it was right or not. anyway... you can make sure it is right now. I would def suggest either downloading the manual or buying one, then looking over adjusting the timing on that. bring it right with you to the garage and work step by step with the book or you computer. steve
