Hi All,

Brand new to the forum. Did a search on water killing the motor and mostly found intake solutions. I'm not worried about the in take as we are running the snorkle set up.

Snorkle tube (carb too) is dry and clean after dying from hitting standing water (deep) fast. My son has DNF'ed on two races so far due to this problem.

Today I ran the motor spraying the head, carb, plug (using NGK plug boot), oil injector plate, intake housing, all with no issue or stutter.

Tonight I pulled the carb and intake and found that the reed cage and reeds we coated with a gray, oil/water mix. Please confirm if this might be my problem or please offer any other things I may want to chase down.

I do change the tranny oil every 2 or so races (will need to bump that up). It's a pretty stock bike, my son races hare scrambles in up state NY, latest race had nearly 3 inches of rain throughout the day.

Any advice would greatly apprieciated.

Stator getting wet? That is a lot of water for these bikes. If you did not have any problems when you did your tests, I would kinda lean towards water getting through the stator cover. Our polaris used to do that only when you hit water at speed. You can look at ways to try to make a better seal, just not sure if you can completely make it water PROOF.

i tell my boy to stay away from water i would rather see him lose a race then a motor but some times wen he hits water it bogs then clears out i think it sucks up in the exhaust wear it pieces together by the head and like dirt kids sed keep the stator dry they make a nice cover now with no holes in it and if you have that piece of card board in ther between the stator and motor i would get rid of it if it gets wet it may give a bad connection for the stator good luck tommy

Thanks Selbygirl,

Yeah, I don't think I've told my son anything about water other than slide back on the seat, get over the rear wheels and pin it, lol. Maybe not the smartest advice from dad (of course I race bikes, lol).

I have troubles with ours after I pressure wash it. It acts like the plug is fouled or the belt/clutch is slipping. After some time sittting it runs great again. Good luck on your problem too.
