how hard is a 12 valve cummins swap into a new gen 2003 dodge ram?

Im looking to upgrade to a cummins diesel and have a 2003 dodge ram 2500. I ve been looking around and new dodge rams with cummins are pretty expensive. ive found a deal on a nice 12 valve cummins engine and was wondering how hard the swap would be?

Could i use my newer tranny so i could keep it 4 wheel drive?

What else is all involved with doing these swaps?

alot of work be cheaper if you just buy an old dodge with a cummins

Too much work b/c the newer truck has WAY to many electronics its computer expects to hear from with the current engine.
