I just got my frame back from powder coat. It's bright white with a layer of stardust, it's hard to get a good picture of it.

Looks nice, I like how the pic has stars in it, star-dust in the Lone-star, but where is the rest of the frame?

Try taking a pic of it in a low light area without the flash on. It might show more.

I tried the low light with no flash, still does it no justice.

what kind of bearing goes in the bottom of the steering stem ?

with all that powder in there I doubt you will be getting a bearing in that and where the subframe connects to the frame its light (your coater fuct up)!

Damn dude! What a way to bring a guy down. I have powdercoated lots of frames and sometimes in those tight areas it wont take the powder. And I dont have a cheap gun. It would of been alot easier if he had taped the inside of the steering stem bearing area. Get out the flap wheel.

Wow, you must have some awesome vision, you can see through metal! There is not one picture of the area the bearing actually sits in, just a far away shot of where the bearing has to be pushed through, but you must have really good vision to see how thick powder coat is from that far away! All my frames have a lighter coat of powder in that area, couldn't tell by looking at it though, never had a problem pressing a bearing into place either.

Again, awesome vision on your part. Looks like the pics are taken in a area with alot of light, I see light spots from reflections in every pic. Could it be the quality of the pics? I guess I must have horrible vision, because I only see areas that could be the angle of the camera in relation to the frame and light. Don't think I would bash someone work unless I saw it in person through my own eyes, not through some pics. Then again, you are a "coating specialist", so I guess you would know.

Rayman375, frame looks good man. What else do you have planned for the frame? Need to meet up one of these weekends and go out and ride.

LOL the pic of it on the table shows the ring for the seal and theres powder WAY below that

and yes I do have excellent vision but not xray
he didnt say it was his work ,
maybe he noticed the same things but thought he should not say anything to his coater
or maybe his coater said he couldnt do anything about it and spoon fed some bs excuses

everyone is saying it looks good , from where I sit its half *** and no one else is saying anything about it -why not ?Im letting him know its ok to go back and complain ,I would and I bet you would to

if it was coated for free it looks great !if he paid any amount of money it looks FAIR to mediocre and probably not what he paid for !

Everyone's so damn critical. lol I think it looks HOT!! What scheme are you going with for the plastics. I want to see what it looks like together!!
You MAY want to use aa ddremel with a fine grit barrell to clean out where the steering stem bearing will go. It will make it that much easier to install. A light coat or antisieze helps to. Esp when you need to change it down the road. ;)

I got it done at the same place you had your frame coated, Doug. There is powder in the bearing area, but it's very very light, it shouldn't be any problem at all to clean it out if it needs to be but I'm sure the bearing will go in no problem, if not oh well. I also don't see any spots where the powder is too light or thin, maybe i'm blind though.
