just picked up a 99 scarmbler 400 4x4x cheap. i was told the crank seized up. is it a hard job to replace the bearings? do they need to be pressed on? i plan on taking the motor apart in a week or 2, to find out whats really wrong?

if it just needs new main bearings, then you can usually get them off and on by yourself with a little work. If the rod has went bad though, you will definetly need a machine shops help to put the new rod on and re-true the crank halves.

i was taking the exhaust off and i found metal chunks in the first bend. i think its something in the top end. i hope its not to bad.
