I have a ltr 450 that i just installed a kicker kit and it will not start unless you give it a little bit of gas while kicking it.. the intake valves were set at about .004 so i even tried to set them about .007(toward the loose side) and still the same thing.. any one have any ideas!?

check the wires on the yosh wiring harness that came with the kit make sure the colors go red to orange and black to black, bc yosh sent out a bunch of kits that were wired wrong. mine would run for a bit and then blow out the capacitor. thats just something you can check but i dont think i ever had to give it any gas when starting even when it was wired wrong . if i try to give my bike gas while starting it the kick back on the kicker will take my leg off.

yosh wiring is fine and last night i was at a local race and i had 2 races that were really close so i pulled in to staging and could not start it when it was hot... finally the only way it would start while hot is if i held the throttle wide open whille kicking... i have checked everything and this is my prac bike so the motor is pretty stock with a dasa exhaust, open air box and a cherry bomb... what to look for!?!?!?!? looked at all wires and vac hose to throttle body... bike runs awesome for being stock cams n piston just dont start well

I know it's a stupid question but are you reading your clearances correctly? Intakes are supposed to be set at 0.10-0.20mm (0.0039-0.0079in) and Exhaust is 0.20-0.30mm (0.0079-0.0118in).

Check your coolant level and maybe fuel filter.

what did you do to fix the starting problem..bc now i put a kicker on my practice bike and im having the same problem..i pulled the plug last night and it was black. when just last week the bike ran perfect.

the chery bomb remaps the whole fuel curve. its not that. the problem is probably fuel or air related. plugged filter. etc etc. althow it could be weak spark too....

i am pretty sure it was because of the cherry bomb and also i had a decked head and i didnt know.. so my conclution is that its not mapped corect with the cherry bomb.. i put my pim 2 on it from my race quad and just thru on a close map and it would start after 2 or 3 kicks without touching the throttle.. its just a practice quad so im not to worried bout it. it anyone else finds out something let me know..
