hey quick question about atvs in general

hey bassicly all i want to no is what will running a quad without a header do? i no this cant be good for a atv my friend said it will blow orings because of no backpressure but my other friend thinks its allright someone tell me exactly what this will do? thanks!

yes but anything else internally that will break ?

Im sure the possibilities are endless. Try it and see, report back. I could possibly see it ruining a cylinder or piston, but I think the ex valve will warp or burn, making it stop running, before it got to that point.

if it's a 2 stroke it want run very long. It will burn up the piston, destroy the cylinger and maybe even the crank.

If it's a 4 stroke then it will burn up a valve and could posibley suck some dirt back into the cylinder.

from what i hear you can spray paint the header and where the paint is unburnt is where you can cut it off at. that's what i did with my 07 zx-10r but i got a power comander though. if you had the right mapping, jetting, and a way of knowing if cold air was going in it you could. just for fun i once rode my 400ex 20min with just the header but a couple months later it smoked so bad i had to put a quart of oil in it after ever half hour of riding but it was not set for it though.

jeez i hope some of you guys are joking. but like some said it will run like **** sound like **** and screw something up. thats why i dont get on here much anymore, the site is over run with kids on 400ex's always wanting the loudest pipe or wanting to take their muffler or header off. you may just be asking to see what would happen but i have seen many other threads with people wanting to take their muffler off or something stupid. sorry for the rant, just had to get that out.

what would you have to gain from pulling the header off anyways? I say go ahead and do it....if the thing blows up and you can't ride anymore it will be a huge gain for the sport :grr:

im not saying i want to do it man my freind did it and posted a video on youtube and said nothing bad will happen and i am disagreeing with him but do not no much about mechanics to explain why so he thinks nothing will just because i cant explain it to him i am not the type of guy to take a pipe of to gain db look at my atv i like things nie and clean and done right

YEA its common sence will taking the header off make it easy for dirt to get into the engine? YEA its common sence will dirt wreak your engine faster then you can blink? YEA its common sence i definently wouldnt higher you as a mechanic just saying
