Recently I got my atv, as some of you may know. We knew it smoked, so after much work, we got it to stop by changing the valve seals and piston rings. Now on to my main problem. I recently went to my uncle's house to ride, since I thought it would be good now. I had my uncle tighten up the chain, and while he was, someone noticed the back right wheel wobbling a couple inches back and forth. There happened to be a Honda mechanic there and he told me it needed new axle bearings. Ok. Well, while he was down there, he looked at the sprockets. It was currently (supposed to be at least) a 14 front and 36 back. Well, it was actually about a 6 front and 33 back because the teeth were worn so bad. I figure ok, I might as well replace the sprockets and chain as well. So, I think I will go with a 14-38 setup. I mainly like trail rides, and the trails I ride are pretty tight. I figure this will give me plenty of low end, while still leaving me a little on the top end. I have been looking, and I think I have decided what I want to get. What you guys think of:

From RMATV:
* 14 Tooth Primary Drive Front Sprocket
* 38 Tooth Primary Drive Rear Sprocket
* D.I.D. 520 ATV X-Ring Chain (94 with those sprockets, right? I can always remove some if you guys don't know exactly, but don't tell me too little please.)
* All Balls Rear Axle Bearing Kit

K. Will the Primary Drive sprockets and DID chain be a good option?

* All Balls Rear Axle Bearing Kit 14/38 should be pretty good, imo. I'm not sure re chain length. Those Primary Drive sprockets on RMATV are really good. I even use em racing and they hold up really well and don't cost too much!

Ok. So I think I have decided to get the Primary Drive sprockets, 14 and 38, the D.I.D. ATV X-Ring with 94 links, and the All Balls Rear Axle Bearing Kit.

Because the Primary Drive Sprockets are so inexpensive, I actually keep several different sizes for different ridinig conditions or when it gets wet. If you aren't sure about the 38, maybe get a 39 also or 13 or 15 front, if you think you might use them.

Is there an actual noticeable difference between a 14/38 and 14/39?

You might see what some of your friends are running and kinda cover your bases with the 38 and one other or something. If your running trails pretty much and not "hole shots", 38 might be fine. I race in sand, and I use 36, 37, 38, 39, just depending on how wet and how flat!

K, thanks. I decided to go with 14 and 15 with a 38. The 14 will be good for tight trails and the 15 for long, straight trial rides. Thanks for the help =)
