I have the fullflight a-arms too, I think they are pretty good, what is your impression of them?
A lot of guys knock them because the are inexpensive.

The stand is custom made for me by Igloo they do great work. As for the A-Arms have not got to ride the bike yet but I have herd bad things about the heim joints breaking and issues with getting parts warrantied but only time will tell. I will update when we get it out for its first ride.

I used a High Temp enamel I purchased from Lowe's. Not really sure how it will hold up but it looks better and seems more durable than anything I have used in the past. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed it holds up cause that will ruin the whole build.

Wow that looks awesome I wish I had the time. Im interested in seeing if that holds up. I doubt the head and cylinder get hot enough to take that stuff off and if it does it will probably only be close to the front of the head where the exhaust bolts up.

Should be getting the shocks and a few other parts back from the pc. hope to have the front and rear end locked down this weekend. Will post more pics when I get a little further along. I think we have everything now except wheels and plastic.

Since this is an '05 build... would you be kind enough to point out some of the reverse mechanism stuff with pictures?

Trying to get an idea of what all would be involved if I ever find a reasonable reverse bottom end to pick up for the conversion.

Trying to decide if it's a reasonable conversion, or if selling/parting out and getting an '05+ is more practical.

the conversion is a pretty big deal, i would say the easiest way is a complete motor swap, or aleast a bottom end swap, i am not sure what all is involved thou. but i can remember some people looking into it and finding out it wasn't worth it. if i were you i would pick up an 05 or newer, and swap all your good stuff (old dual headlights and plastic) and sell your 2000...my opinion

I know I took my baby out for its first beating and destroyed the PC on the wheels and scratched the plastic all to hell. But in the long run if you would have seen this 400ex before this build you realize everything can be made new again...... at a price.

Yes most shocks come PC'd from the factory either that or a poly coat but it will hold up just as well as the factory Honda shocks.

Wow... the work on the FMF can just set this off and took it out of sight... wow!

And my advice... if I didn't already give it :confused: ...spray the crap out of that wrap with heavy duty silicone... or scotch guard or camp dry or shoe stuff... something to repel stains and water.

Mine is doing better than expected with the silicone.

Please swap that filter to something else or you'll be worrying about the inside of the motor getting dusty and eat up...

Besides the motor is it all powdercoat or is some of it sprayed? Also black or white on the plastics.... any other color would ruin this badass build....

The calipers front hubs engine shocks and exhaust are done in High Temp paint and automotive grade paint on the stuff that doesn't get hot everything else is powdercoated

I recomend a custom intake with no air box setup, you can use either the stock ex intake parts or make one out of alluminum tube like me.

What tires should I run need a good 6ply

ive got a few suggestions;the bars,if they really are turner bars then i would suggest a change.theyll break,i suggest protaper se's/protaper contours,renthal twinwall,renthal regular,or renthal fatbar.and tag.and im pretty sure your missing grips!get protaper pillowtops or renthal dual compound kevlar grips.and stock fronts?!?!thats gonna hurt jumping.cheapest route would be to get 450r shocks.maybe get some triple rate springs or get them revalved.or you can find some used aftermarket fronts or buy new ones.and to me if your gonna be racing mx,possibly get a +1 swinger.the rear 400 shock is a pretty good shock for being shock.you can always get it revalved for a better ride tho.but dont a rear 450 shock,its not an upgrade.more like a downgrade.

Lots of good 6 ply tires....

Razr, Razr2 or GBC X-Rex, Kenda Kutter XC, Holeshot HD, Holeshot XC or XCR....

Or you could try some of the 6 ply radials... iRazr, Razr Ballance, Holeshot SR...

best all around front 6 ply tire is the maxxis razr II or GBC x-rex, its the same tire basically, very slight tread variation (spacing of the lugs I heard is slightly more on the x-rex but its the same design). they are both made by cheng shin tires. Nice thing about the x-rex is sometimes you can catch them on sale at gbc for 70 bucks vs the 80+ for the razrs.
