just cant get it to idle

got a new carb on ebay and its acting weird. no idle adjustment through the idle screw on the bottom of the carb. I can adjust it throught the cable at the throttle:confused: pull the choke on it and it runs about 3000 rpm drop the choke after a couple seconds and it will idle rough with alot of back firing as I let off the gas:confused: I bought this carb off ebay cause I busted that arm that pulls the slide up and down. 30 for a carb 60 for that part. Should I just swap parts and be done with it? I dont have any mods except airbox:confused:

It sounds like you are lean on the pilot jet.

could I have a 300ex carb? are they similar on the outside and jetted smaller inside? I should just pull it and check but any other ideas fellas? thanks loflyer

just goes to show you every time you try a short cut it bites you in the ***. cleaned it up top to bottom and inside out. she purrs like a kitten now. no more short cuts:D
