Wondering about how much it will cost to get my cylinder bored out for a 416 kit from Golden West Cycle?

Also wondering how much a 416 stg1 cam kit would benefit from a p&p and how much a p&p would cost?

Will be having a local performance shop do the boring/p&p. just trying to find out how much i need to save up for it.

id say save 400-450 bore n hone is in the ball park of 65bucks around vermont and a good port and polish can get expensive 100-160 n than a piston usally runs around 130 at cheap cycle parts and than gaskets and a cam is like 140??

At the shop I'll be going to in indiana it will be about 300 for the bore to a 416 and a port and polish cam is going to be 140 bucks and about the same for a good piston

Wow guys! Does that include tearing the motor down?

The guy I take my jugs to bores and hones them for $10.

you can get a stage 1,2 or 3 off ebay for $129 shipped to your door. so why would you pay $140 ? look aroun befor you buy.

I’ll also add that you better do some research on the p&p, because there are lots of people that clam that they can do it but if they don’t know what they are doing it can do more harm that good.

I had mine bored to a 416 with 12/1 JE piston and a stage two cam with a full race P&P and valve job for about $1100.00 complete. Plus it was run through most of the heat cycles before I got it back. all I did was write the check.

I didn’t do the HD studs and it’s held up just fine for two years and still going strong.

does it really cost that much for you guys just to get a cylinder bored?

It just shocks me is all. I can have a sbc bored for $80.

I usually drop the head, jug, and piston off at my guy. He fits in small motors like that in b/t the bigger jobs. Cleaning the head, valve job, new guides, etc, plus boring and honing usually runs us around $25. Usually takes him a week or two to get it back to us. Great guy, runs a one man shop.

How about you give up the name of this guy so we can give him some additional business. Assuming he does good work of course.

Ive never heard of anyone having any problems with his work. Ive always used him and my cousin that works on atvs always uses him. Ive had 3 bored by him, cousins have had atleast 9 bored and probably 14 or 15 heads to him. All stock work, no performance work. He doesnt port and polish, he just does basic rebuild stuff.

it cost me 80 buck to get my cylinder bored and honed for that kit. i would suggest selling the quad and getting a 450 wish i would have done that before i put all the money into the 400.

50-60 bucks should cover it at most places, 100 would be all i would pay to have it done ever. i paid 150 for valve lap, seals, bore, and minor p&p. steve

i paid 400 to BCS Performance to have them do a port n polish, valve job, and installl new valves and valve springs. my theory is you get what you pay for. i think GT Thunder charges a little more than that, i dont remember what they quoted me when i asked them, all thought it was close to bcs's price
