Just wanted to see how many people have ever tried to run the atv mx nationals out of the bed of your truck? I have always wanted to race the nationals and finally have the money to but not enough to get a trailer though. So i plan on racing atleast 3 or 4. What do yall think about racing out of the bed of my truck? How many started out like this and adventually got a trailer?

I did Redbud and Walnut out of my Pickup. I even slept in a small tent for three nights at Redbud. I'm doing it backwards. I used to have a trailer and had to sell it to have the money to race. If you love to race it dosen't matter how you get there.

I hit a few of the far ones with my buddy out the bed of a truck. Your able to haul *** without a trailer and much easier on the MPG. We stayed in a hotel though. Dont let not having a trailer hold you back. Its a luxury, not a necessity

trade you truck for a 15 passenger van, you can haul your quad and have something to camp out of

How much is it for each class you enter in and gate fees and all the other fees for the whole weekend? Im trying to add up gas and everything to get a ball park of how much i am going to be spending.

Gate fee - $35-$40
classes - $40 each (run 2, because it sucks if something happens in 1 moto)
Practice - $25 each class
transponder - ~35 (i think)
Bike fuel - $20
Camping at LL was $30 a night.

looking at around $200 for gate fee and classes to race. (not including if you have to pay for camping or truck fuel)

i done the poor boy race rig at LL this year. i slept in a EZ-up cannopy with the walls on it and air mattress. it came a flood saturday and sunday and soaked almost all of my stuff but i made it thru the weekend and ill tell you this ill never do it again without a enclosed trailer. its soo much more convient to have a enclosed for everything in case of storms and etc. i had a blast even tho i was sleeping outdoors and i spent around $500 for my whole weekend including gas for my 4cycl s10 lol

the transponders are $150 to rent and $125 is refundable on sunday when u return them. if you use a debit/credit card they charge ur card $35 and if you dont return the transponder sunday they will charge ur card additional $125. I left sunday and got 10mins down the road until i noticed my bike still had the transponder on it so i had to turn around and take it back to save my card being charged more money,

next year i will be investing in a trailer and doing things different.

ya, if you could do the series for 1,600, then ALOT more people would be there. we've spent up to 3000 a weekend...

and thats not including if you wreck and break stuff and you have to go to the parts counter and get some stuff.. because wrecks do happen, and stuff does break. its not the matter of if, its when.

thats what we did ! WEll.. its a 10 passenger and we LOVE IT !
Its really nice for the long trips so my kids can stretch out and sleep ...
We pull an enclosed with it ,doesnt have alot of guts but it gets the job done and a hell of alot cheaper pmt than another truck pmt . I thik it has the 1 ton chassis .
We have too many quads to put in the back of it :p but I know of one of the Pros who does it with his !:D

Thats what we spend on Ave. to run the Nats. on the West Coast.
When we were in Arizona and SoCal it cost us 2 G's . Fuel is almost half of our budget :ermm:
thats not including race gas, vehicle maintenence or parts of course.

On the website its says you can either buy one for 150 or rent on for 150 and get 125 back. It gives you a link to where you can order one from.

Just your race fee are not bad for a national race
$40 to race
$25 Friday practice (not required to practice but better to)
$150 transponder after race you get back $125
$40 to get into the track for the weekend

Travel expences are what kills you.

40 to race isn't bad but 25 to practice? that should be with the 40 you pay to race! and 150 for a tansponder? i was pizzd when i had to pay 50 at a gncc. and 40 for the weeken? it is 12 at a gncc. it takes some serious cash to race a national i'm glad i read it here cause i want to try one and i never would have brought enough money! lol

Get a van with the cab over. it works wonders for storing gear sleeping bags and water tanks. On site makes a great sleeping section.

the - are, just another vehicle laying around the yard thou along with tabs, ins., and maintenance. but it has tons of props thou

To me $25 for practice is cheap our local tracks charge us $35/$40
And the $150 for the transponder you get $125 back when you return it. So it s only $25 to rent it for the weekend.

is practice a day b4 the race? and you can ride as long as you want or need? if so thats not to bad but do they really need 150 for the transponder? i'm thinking of trying a national some time soon but not sure if i could make it one weekend of racing for uner 300.

Yes, $25 Practice is optional for all day Fri scheduled in groups. It works out to a good deal of practice. You still get Practice in the mornings on race day with your race entry.

Racing a National is not much more than racing a local series. It is the fuel that is the killer. Food cost the same whether you take it to eat at the track or at home, so I don't consider it as part of the expense. We were $700 in fuel to go to Red Bud from Manitoba, Canada. Another $100+ on Toll roads plus the already mentioned race day fee's. It all depends how far you are from the track.
