make sure you dont have a air leak on the carb or the exhuast.

do you think the 450r carb is too much for a stock bore

i dont think so. i would try the jeting and moving the clip.

it's trial and error. does it run good over all with the jets that are in it now ? what is it doing other then poping ?

other than the poping and cracking it seams to runs great but when it gets hot it lightly spits back through the carb does that mean the pilot is too small

the spiting back sounds like timming or valves not setting right. but you can try a 42 and see what that does for you. i have a 450 carb on mine. but it's the 06 and up fcr carb. it's a lil bit diffrent and bigger. but if you get with johndoe83 he has that same carb on his. i have not seen him on here for a day or two.
theres been alot of bs going on with the hole drag racing thing.

NOOO!! your carb is still lean or youve done something wrong on install, like have a air leak....hotstart maybe?

backfiring on decell is a lean condition of the pilot jet, you can go up to 3.5 turns out on the air/ fuel screw before you need a bigger pilot jet.

MY jetting thread.
