I have a 08 trx450er. I checked the clutch plates and they are in perfet shape. I just put a new clutch perch on it and when i engage the clutch the wheels spin like i am not pulling in the clutch. I've messed with the adjustment on the bracket on the motor and the clutch perch with no success. I'm lost. Anyone else expereance this? And if so what was the cause of the problem? Thanks! Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Was this with it cold or warmed up? If it's cold with the wheels off the ground, I'd say that's normal.

both cold and warmed up. I took it for a ride to warm it up and it seems like it is't shifting as smooth as is was also. I'm so confused.

I have the quad on a atv stand now. i put it in first gear. Didn't pull in the clutch and it started rite up with wheels spinning. i pull in the clutch and the wheels keep spining @ the same rate of speed. When i rev the quadwith the clutch pulled the wheels spin like i'm not pulling in the clutch at all. i'm really starting to get frustrated!

What happens when the wheels are on the ground? Did you check you clutch basket to make sure it isn't grooved? If it's grooved bad enough, it will prevent the clutch fibers from separating from the steels like they should when you pull the clutch. It will also make for a harder clutch pull.

When the wheel are off the ground in first gear, and you pull in the clutch, you should be able to stop the wheels with your hand. When you do this though, you will still feel a little resistance.

clutch basket....fibers...and steel plates all look great! with the wheels in the air i can stop it with my steel toe boots. but once i take my foot off. It goes right back to the same speed.

Sounds right to me,other then it not shifting smooth.Did you soa the fibers?Everything torqued to specs?Theres little resistance with the wheels off the ground so the bike will start in first(i think).

also make sure that you never use any oil additives in the clutch, they will cause problems every time

i Don't use addatives at all. My buddies 450er doesn't do this. There seems to more play (up ad down) on the arm that attaches to the end of the clutch cable (again comparing to my buddies quad) on the engine. I just put fresh hp trans oil(80w/85w) with no results. I've always used honda oils on the quad and theres about 15 hours on this 08 left over. Of course my 6month warrenty is up.
