I know a lot of people have brake blockoffs but what is their purpose?

to eliminate the piece of junk parking brake that doesnt work and just takes up space , if you want to get real technical , maybe to shave some weight

That is the only reason that I could think of for taking the parking brake off. Thanks for the reinforcement! Lol.

also if you change your clutch perch and lever you need to block off your brake.

You shave maybe a pound. I think it just makes the quad look cleaner, more sanitary. Besides, that junk parking brake never works anyway, especially on Hondas! lol
I don't think you can even get an aftermarket perch that accomodates the parking brake.

most people dont just take them off for looks or because it takes any one little pound, people take them off because there known for killing the brake pads, as well as all the other things you said, looks, to save weight, and if you wanted to upgrade to an aftermarket perch/lever setup

I agree with the killing of the brake pads. I thought I would just tighten it up a little so it would work. LOL, I went through a set of pads really quick. Of course they were stock pads but they didn't last long. If I installed a blockoff, do I need a new clutch perch?

no you dont really have to but itll only be like $20... you can use the stock perch setup, youll just have to ziptie the parkingbrake adjustment closed so it doesnt flop open

what are the prices on a parking brake blockoff? I could do w/o the flames since that would be the only thing on my ride that has flames on it.

About $5.99 + $5 shipping on Ebay.

That flamed one is $25.99 and climbing though. Geesh

Looks like they retail in shops for about $14.99.

It will save you whatever you spend on it in brake pads the first year alone.

what do u do with those two wires that come outta the parking brake perch? i was just letting them hang there and now my quad wont start in gear...

Just splice them together. They attach to the micro switch that is in the old clutch lever so that the bike will be able in gear if you pull in the cluth lever. Just remember that when you splice them together the bike will crank when you hit the starter, so make sure the clutch is pulled in if the bile happens to be in gear.

i just taped them wires when i had my 440 and it fell apart, so here is the way you should do it, be carefull, you can mess it up

take old lever and pearch off, remove all that crap. then install new parts and stuff, get them 2 wires, they are kinda like connecters, so cram them togather, then soder them togather, wrap generously in electrical tape, and ziptie them to your bars, and done
