i wanted to get better front suspension so i got the diamond j relocator bracket and 400ex shocks. i didnt get the a arms. when i got it all bolted up the front suspension was even worse than before. when i hit the front brakes it basically compressed all the way and handled terrible. is this because the shocks are worn or because i am not running 400 a arms? what should i do now?buy a arms? 450r shocks? what do you think would work best for trail riding/ xc racing and maybe a track once in a while?
thanks a lot

I would try adjusting the preload on your shocks fisrt.

The diamond-j customs widening kits are one of the worst things you can do to a quad, as far as handling is concerned. Just because the quad is wider overall, doesn't mean it will handle good. Good handling comes from proper geometry and shock setup. If you want to get into the specifics, read this thread (http://www.exriders.com/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=300433) starting with the last post of the second page. If you want it to handle better, extended arms and a good set of adjustable shocks would be your best bet.

1.5" spacers or a arms are the only good ways to get better handling

Spacers aren't as bad as the diamond widening kit. But they still can cause some ill-handling characteristics, including premature hub bearing wear. That same thread gets into why as well.

its not really about the handling thats why i didnt get a arms. my shocks were too soft and didnt have enough travel so i got the relocator and the 400ex shocks are softer than my stock ones

huh you know i did a long travel setup with yfz shocks on my warrior and they are easier to bottom than the banshee shocks i had

The only thing you can do is find another front 400ex shock to see if urs are blown. Maybe you can barow a freinds shock. The only thing I can think of is ur shocks are sitting straight up and down rather than at about a 30 degree angle like they would be with out the relocator. I would tend to think this would make the shock stiffer though.
