What size is the fuel petcock screw? Mine fell out during my last ride and I need to find a replacement.

Thanks!

Its #5-35 Thread & your best guess on length.
Good luck finding that one.
Thats from http://www.dgy.com/fiche_select2.asp?category=ATVs&make=HONDA&year=2003&fveh=3831 in the fuel tank section

It's a M5x35 - meaning the thread is 5mm and the length is 35mm long

Any Honda dealer can get it

Home depot or Lowe's mostly carry imperial threads.....but you can try them for METRIC

Too bad they're weren't more places to get METRIC fastners

It all depends were ya are.

Home depot or lowes probably has it, might have to get a longer one and shim it with washers or cut it down.

Honda probably has too order it or has it, bit its like 5 buckets I bet.

Thats right, my bad, there should really be a pitch number for a metric screw such as 1.0 threads/in.
Thats what confused me.

Hey MJC400EX

The Difference in Metric thread pitch and Imperial thread pitch is that Metric is measured between each individual thread and Imperial threads are measured in the number of threads per inch.

eg.

M6-1.0 = 6mm diameter with a pitch 1mm between each thread

so if that bolt is 25mm long it has exactly 25 threads.

Imperial's

1/4-20UNC = 1/4 diameter with a course thread count of 20 / inch

Most of the Metrics on our bikes are:

M6x1.0
M8x1.25
M10x1.25 ----> Very hard to find other than OEM

Hope this helps

Yeah you are absolutely right. I don't know what I was thinking. Let's call it a brain fart. I feel like a jerk to say it but I have a mechanical engineering degree!
