right now i ride a 01 cr250r and i think i'm getting back quad fever and always wanted a trx250r but i have never rode one. i know straight line drags don't mean shizit but just to give me an idea of power if you lined up a 01 cr250r and a good year trx250r how would that turn out? how much is a FULLY built trx250r cost? i'm talking down to aftermarket swingarm, radiator, steering stem, suspension, the works. thanks.

a CR250R WILL SMOKE A STOCK 250R IN STRAIGHT LINE BIG PWER TO WEIGHT Difference there. If you buy one built 3500 to 4000 if you build it could be anywhere between 5000 to 20000 depending on your addiction i guess im up to about 7k in mine and I still got a lot more i want to do. You got to love it if you want to keep these things going.

The bike will definitely be faster than the quad, I don't want you to think the quad is slow, but it's a whole different animal then the bike. If you want a fully built mx quad, hit up 312R1 on here, he's got a very nice Laeger that he just finished building with the best of the best of parts that he's been talking about selling. You couldn't build a quad as nice as his for his asking price. He's a real good guy to deal with also.

if you want a fully built 250r and you have the cash your in luck..
def a buyers market. 312r1 has probably the best deal going for i believe 8000. you would be hard pressed to build one let alone find the parts to do so for that price. but remember you are looking at a 20 + year old bike/parts availability. 312r1's bike is all new. side note...damn if i didn't just purchase a 450er 312r1's bike would be in my garage.

i almost have 4000 in the frame, swingarm, and protrax front end and wheel/tires.
this is a new 2009 laeger that i'm building.

bottom line in my opinion you looking at at leat 12000+ for a true aftermarket R if you are bulding from the frame up.

most important question...you are going from a dirt bike to a quad. have you ever owned or ridden a quad for any length of time? honest opinion/obervasion: dirt bike riders and quad riders are two different breeds. usually you ride one style of bike and you stick to it. the other bike is usually just a novelty.

The nice thing about a 250R is that while it's pretty mild in stock form, you can build on it in any way.

What you might think about doing is starting with something that's not built to the hilt but in good condition, and add on here and there as you get more knowledgeable.
