Alot of people compare the wrong model works (at steelerwith ressies) to a elka with ressies.

these are two completely different shocks, the works being the cheaper of the two, but its cheaper because it has a skinnier shock shaft and a smaller steel body .

not like anyone cares though.

a comparable works to a elka would be closer then you think.

but the comparable works is priced cheaper ;)

so your saying the works tripple rates without rezzies and the denton steering stabilizer would be a better idea then just the elka???

If your just trail riding, i think the works will be just fine. The steering dampner will take alot of jolts out of the steering making it good for the trails. I think the works would be good for your needs.

1) get a steering damper .. you won't be sorry, it'll be $100 well spent...

2) buy the shocks you can afford.. either will be a huge improvement over stock.. don't skimp, make sure to get rezzy's.

I would get the Works and the denton damper, I love my works shocks and have a denton damper on order. If you get a damper get the Denton rebuildable for $20 more. A freind of mine has one on his 400ex it works great, about 2 weeks ago we were riding and he clipped a end of a log, later that day he noticed the tie rod was bent. He didnt know it ever hapened the damper soaked up the hit :D

If you only trail ride I would recommend the Works shocks. The rezzies are optional. If you ride aggressively I would definately say yes to the rezzies.

To add to the other remarks of the damper, at the end of the day you will be glad you had it.
