It is a very good bike to begin racing on. It's light, fast, and has good handling.

hey im not sure of the classes...what are the differant classes...what would i be going against blasters, 300ex, and other 250s like mojave etc.

i think you would be going agianst 300ex's, 250x's mojave's, and warrior's, or any other 250-350 4 stroke but i dont race so im not sure

The 250X is good and what you will race against depends on your local track rules. this year my district will be running open A,B ,C and D classes. I wouldent spend alot of money getting a 250X race ready though because to be competitive and make progress in the sport you will need a big bore quad

If you were really into racing you could get a 300 big bore with all the extras and smoke them all. I think the class is 91-300 air cooled, but the made an exception for the mojave.

hey thanks for the info...i was thinking of the 300 kit...does it make that much of a differance

I wouldn't recomend putting to much $$ into your X cause I did the same thing last year and now I'm wishing I hadn't.Now I'm trying to get more power from somewhere.

Sudsracer: JUST BRING IT!!!!LOL

Check you local race series atv classes. If the 250x has to run with the 400ex and z and stuff you will have a hard time. Many series do not offer many atv classes and this happens. I race a series that has a "sportsman" class. This class has a 350 cc limit and does not allow any models like a 250r or lt250r or even a small engine (destroke and debore to 350 or 350x engine) in a 400ex. So what you have is 300ex, 250x,warrior, blaster, mojave and the like, This is a great class for a 250x and a great place to start racing. You may have a series near you that has a similar class.

If you want to race the Nats then you can race in the 300 4stroke/blaster class. This class has 300ex, 250x, blaster and will allow the mojave this year.

i would just like to know why people shave the fenders off.. is it better for racing? wouldnt ya get pretty dirty?

motoracer11
02-18-2003, 02:33 PM
they shave fenders to:
1. make it more aerodynamic...you get a higher top speed
2.save a little weight
3.get dirtier
4.better looks

want me to continue

yea at our tracks, there is A, B, and C classes in the C class there is like 300ex's 250x's and blasters, but then there is some guys on 400ex's and 250r's it all depends on the riding level! as far as shaving the fenders goes, I love my fenders shaved so I can kinda watch where my front tires go!!!

...areodynamic..(for jumps)
.....see the front wheels in close corner's

sick 250x youve got there blurr. i really need a quad to race and that i can get really good air on but i cant spend too much so im thinking 250x or a blaster. i really am wanting a 250x cuz all ive ever owned were hondas but if it comes down to it i might get a blaster. and im looking at a 250x for 1800 that has some maxxis razrs (not sure if there generic though) and its got a cobra pipe (pos i know) alsot a powdercoated frame. in decent condition some cracks mended in plastic. do you think that is a very good price? i think it would be more like 1400 or something. what do you guys think?

cobra pipe? buddy said that cobra's suck & reduce power! that true?

Thanks Flyin400.It doesn't sound like a bad deal but its up to you.I payed 2200 for mine completly stock. They're not bad quads except they need some more power.I'm either gonna do a 350X conversion on mine or build a 330 stroker in the next month or so.

MOTION PRO is the company your looking for. there's other's, but is most recomended.

COBRA PIPE
...got a freind that had a cobra on his 400. he traded a guy stock for the cobra. and said he does notice a loss in power.
so i guess it does give a little "umph"
i traded a guy my D.G. for his stocker slip-on for a day's worth riding....i didn't like it...can't explain it..little power loss (might have something to do with jetts)

I just bought a 250x a month ago and last night i was out on the track havin the same pace as the intermediate riders (except my quad cant handle as well since its completely stock) of course im only 98 lbs, 17 yrs old, so I prolly have an advantage with my weight but so far my X has been great even stock it still got out there and could jump fairly decent.

yes its the jetting. if you dont rejet that is why you feel like you lost power. the cobra and dg pipes might suck but still are better than stock. they will increase power a little bit but not as much as more expensive aftermarket exhausts. and plus if i race it, it will scare the competition away! :devil can you say loud?
