does the pilot jug bolt on? if not they did a pretty damn good job building up the base to bolt it on...

Goofy routing for the radiator hose, but that's not a deal-breaker...

wow it really does bolt on there. If I had known that I would have done it that way. Im working on a polanda I sheered away from the pilot build because people said you had to do a lot of machining. I guess not by the look of it.

The bottom end studs do have to be moved to put the Pilot cylinder on. So the cylinder stud holes are welded up and redrilled then tapped. The Polonda or as my builder calls it the "Hondalaris" can be done the same way.

I used to think it was a bolt on also..Until I tore it apart when I got it. Man it had some machining done to it. I have an old sparks ported cylinder I was gonna put on it at first but no way it was fitting. FTZ did an awsome job on converting the bottom end, even under the clutch cover welding was done to reinforce the new bigger studs. I wish I woulda took pics when I had it apart but I was too excited to find a replacement head and send it to FTZ. So far their customer service is awsome, way better than ESR. I need to put some side cover gaskets and finish prepping for paint, then fix my lower motor mount on the frame. I only have 1800 in this build and its gonna be a 4 stroke killer!

400ccs or ?

what kind of numbers will this put down?
very interesting!

That 400cc Pilot Motor is sick!!! I've had a few friends that had FTZ motors built. There fast, but every single one blew up in a short period of time. One with the CR 250r head and the others were various sizes. There customer service and turn-around time is awsome, but I worry about how long they'll last. Be carefull. All my friends are running ESR now. But what do I know I bought a PSI 425cc without doing much research??? It is fast as hell though!! I do wish you the best of luck with your motor though, I hope it lasts for ya!!!!

Every company has built motors that for some reason dont last as long as others. Several people I know are having issues with ESR right now. I have an ESR motor and I like it. Usually once you go about 350cc the motors become less reliable :(

Yeah thats true! From what I hear and have read the safest size to build a TRX 250r motor to is about a 330cc. If you want it to last and be reliable I hear thats a great size. I do love the big bores though. You gotta love that power!! I hope that motor works out well for ya. I'm sure it will look sick after its all painted. A black powdercoat would last you alot longer and look better than just spray painting it with high temp paint. Anyway good luck and have fun with it man!!

I wish I could get it powdercoated but I havent a clue around me that does it. I could drive several hours to do it but Im not that patient. I did my other motor in the low-gloss engine paint from car quest and it looks just as good as new (to me) and it has held up way better than I thought so far. I just painted the outer covers. Waiting for my gaskets and new stainless bolts to come in to put it together.

I called FTZ today to get more infor about my motor. Its a 76mm stroke, 80.5mm piston and the displacement is 387. I was kinda mad cause I thought I was over 400!! But I doubt I will be mad over the power its gonna make.

HP sould be in the mid 60's on gas Dennis stated.
