well after i did a high com piston, ported head, bore, 400ex carb, exhaust i realized the 14/38 gearing i have is still not enough.

im looking to make my gears longer while still retaining the torque as i do alot of hill climbing. i was thinking about doing 14/36 but i dont wanna loose torqe.

according to the calculator.....

stock 13/38 = 2.92
current 14/38 = 2.71

14/36 = 2.57

im running 20in rear tires as i feel 22's are to big and i loose power, but i know they would make the gear longer.

also i have an amr cdi box, i had bought awhile back anyone using this as i have not tried it yet.

Changing the front sprocket is certainly cheaper than changing the rear, but I don't think you'll be able to go up another tooth on the front without running into either chain length issues, or clearance problems with your case saver.

I think you could go 14/36 or 14/37 without needing a new chain. The the drive ratio doesn't affect chain length, it's the total number of teeth, and 14/36 is one tooth down from 13/38, and most quads have enough adjustment to let you go up or down one tooth from stock.

I was gonna go 14/36. But then i was afraid it was gonna be to much but then im afraid the 37 wont be enough. I guess ill just buy 2 cheap sprockets and try them.
