I'm looking into getting an oversized oil tank on my 07 400EX. I am looking at the CFM unit. Anyone got one? It looks like it is well made.

Coming off a 250ex, my 400 feels like it runs awfully hot, and I would like to cool it down a bit. I also jsut liek the idea of having an extra quart of oil. The quad is mostly stock if that matters.

Are there any draw backs to an oversized tank? Any problems with flow, with the extra oil? I dont think there would be, I jsut want some more opinions.

Thanks

I have a used one but I don’t know who made it, and it works great. More oil is a good thing when you consider that on the ex the oil has to both lube and cool the motor. The down side is removing the header, it dosn't leave any room for that.

ya bro i just bought one of those tanks, along with a CX racing aluminum oil cooler, 5.2 inch spal fan, and stainless stell braided hoses.

im still building the system, but its going to be a bad *** tell you that, more oil just means it takes longer to heat up

Its not to hard to remove the header is it? Anyone have problems breaking bolts? Do the oil lines fit right up to the aftermarket tanks?

Sorry for all the questions.

I'm going to keep the bike stock for the most part. I got skid plates, bumpers and that sort of thing. My goal is to make it absolutley bulletproof. I figure more oil=cooler and thats a good thing because this bike runs a LOT hotter then my old 250ex. I fell like im sittin on a fire.

I've also been told I should richen up the A/F mixture. What jets should I put in on a stock 2007? Any advice on that?

Thanks

I just bought a CFM tank and it is nicely built. Just remember you will have to take the header pipe off to get it in there but once its in there you will just want to stand back and look at it. I haven't had the chance to take mine out for a good ride yet still working out small issues with the quad after just getting it back together. But the CFM tank is well worth the $99 buy it now off of ebay.

ya i bought mine off ebay 2 weeks ago($99 free shipping)

it utilizes all the stock oil cooler stuff, grommets, cap, drain plug, its a direct bolt on replacement..

just take all the components off your old oil cooler, and put them on your new one.. simple as cake

im still building my quad( gonna be the sickest on here guaranteed) so i havent had a chance to see the performance.

i bought mine as a junker, still havent got to ride it yet

Here is mine, and yes it is a ***** to get the header off. I wanted to work on my header one day and it took me hours to get it off, it was a real pain in the @ss.
But I love the tank and I’m glad I sprung for it.

What makes the header so hard to get off? Maybe I wont have those problems....min is a leftover 07 I bought new last year. It has about 20 hours on it.

It's a bigger tank so there's less room between the tank and the headers than before. It's hard enough getting some brands of headers off with the smaller stock tank.

I’ve only had mine off one time, it’s not something you do very often so I wouldn’t let that stop me form getting one. It’s a good mod.
