My buddy just got his cyclinder bored out to accept his new je 416 piston... Can he use a new stock honda gasket kit for the base, head, and valve cover? .... Sorry for the probably silly question, its our first build...

Was it hard for you guys to find a good machine shop to get the cylinder bored? Seems like there is nowhere around my area to take mine too when I get my kit. I found a nice place about 3 hours away from my house and Im more than willing to drive, it would just be nice to have somewhere local.

I never woulda thought a yamaha dealer would do that, I have one about 2 minutes away from my house so maybe ill stop in and ask them. That would be really cool if they did but I know there gonna be expensive.

not all honda or yamaha shops will but if you have a good machine shop around it will be just as good if not better.

i agree with ericcrip..a small engine repair shop here also does it for around $45-$50 and thats who i was going to have do it..UNTIL i talked with the dude and told him i'll find out what the piston-cylinder wall measurements are for him and his replied was "i just bore the cylinder out to where the piston will fit" lol no thanks
