Nothing major, just some good quiet time spent in the woods

I was expecting a storm to come in and the light to get better once it passed but no such luck

The bug, visable just over her tail, bit the crap out of her. I saw her hair stand straight up then she whirrled to get it off her.

I also finally captured a Doe sucking the fawns ears. I've seen it but never been able to catch it on film!

beautiful pics, the condition of some of the deer look to be a little thin, perhaps they could benefit from some supplemental feeding, or thinning the herd a little, do they have a good variety of feed?I know its hot but some look a little undernourished, is this on your property?

They are fine, just mountain deer. No supplemental feeding is allowed in the area I took these pics due to CWD.

Pappy, do you actually have a cwd problem in your guy's management area?

Yep. Just an hour south of here in Hampshire County. They are doing all they can to contain it. If I remember correctly, a car hit deer was tested and was positive, that led to more testing and such. They have been doing kills in areas to try and deminish the spread, hopefully it works.

ya those look real healthy.. a feed deer just have that full bodied look!! I know a lot of people are against supplemental feeding but it helps the deer reach there potential,I know that feeding does create a higher potential to the spread of diseases, but I feel the benefits outweighs the negatives

ya, here in pennsylvania we havent found any cases of it yet, but i guess pa game commision protocol, which was written by some biologists, states that all deer with in a 60 sq. mile area have to be killed to prevent spread.

i did a big research paper on it for one of my freshmen english courses during college

we farm about 60 total acres on the properties we land manage with strictly vegetation for the purpose to help the deer grow and be healthy.

so far, we have seen some good results

Gettin ready for bow season I hope!

You would of crapped your pants, what that depends. But I saw the other day on my way to work 3 ten pointers 4 eight pointers 1 six pointer and a few spikes. All grouped up.

I havent been seeing many bucks at all...just a few small ones. I did see a nice one a week or so ago around midnight but he was just at the edge of the house light and I couldnt count points, but in the "Dandy" class.

Bachlor groups right now are common. Ive seen as many as 20 bucks all together feeding....cool stuff! Right now, its been too hot and I havent been able to get much beyond small deer and some of whats posted here. The bigger bucks arent coming out until it cools off rendering any chance to photograph them mute.
