I know this is a crazy question but does anyone know of a forum like this for meteorite hunters?

ive got a few questions and whatnot on some finds but cant seem to find much for forums.... lol

You think you found some? Could very well be. The first thing you should do is see if they stick to a magnet. If so, you may have found some!

Check that site out. Ton's of pictures and info on them. Even the small ones are worth hundreds of dollars.

a magnet does stick to them, but barely. they are all black and rusty... i found them on the beach of a quickly drying up lake in the middle of nowhere.... my metal detector goes crazy on them...

im sure they aren't since they are wayy to big, but ive been reading up and some types of meteorites are just like mine.... just a thought floating around

How good is the magnet you're using? From what I've read and seen on tv you need a fairly decent magnet to get it to stick well.

Did you check out the "How To Identify Meteorites" section on that site? It's on the top right.

Your metal detector is going off and the magnet is sticking because there's Iron in the piece ... you can clearly see it ( the brownish mineral).

The black fine grained mineral looks like an igneous rock ,possibly Basalt but you'd have to test it's hardness in order to know for sure.
