The guys over at twostrokemotocross.com are passing around a petition to get the AMA to modify the rules to allow up a 144 cc stroke in the 250 class and up to a 300 cc two stroke in the 450 class. I know it isn't equal displacement, but I think it is a step in the right direction. The AMA is actually looking into it. I think we should back them up and sign the petition. I have signed it myself. Here is the link.

aren't 144's allowed in 250 4 stroke classes now? Some classes allow a 250 2 stroke in 250 4 stroke classes also. If you are talking about a pro class, that is a different story.

If you as a sanctioning body, change the racing classes you offer to exclude the old two strokes & can only enter a new made 4 stroke atv of today into compitition, then what is a pro rider going to do.
Go & get a new 4 stroke, that is if he or she wants to race an AMA/ATVA sanctioned event.
Now who's pockets did that fill, surely not the Am riders.
Think about it.

Whats going to make things change, is when those big pockets are empty from trying to keep that 4 stroke alive & then them realizing what they realy had & how cheap it was when the 2 strokes were around.

Racing today cost no less than 4 times as much as it did back when just about everybody was racing two strokes.
Oh that 4 stroke rides easier, but you'll pay in the end for that easy ride.

The 2 strokes should never been handicapped to begin with. If the 4 stroke can not keep up at the same displacement it does not deserve to be on the track.

i think 330 or 350 would have been a better number. you can make more torque than a 4-stroke and more hp, but the power band is narrower so you have to gear better and work harder:confused:  :ermm:
