View Full Version : Doing a rebuild - Need some advice for color scheme

So I just picked up an '05 TRX450R. It is in great condition but now its time to make it look good. Right now it is mostly stock, it has a DASA intake, Sparks exhaust, HRC cam, Custom Axis LT, JB +2 Arms etc.

Ideally I would like to Powder coat the frame, arms, swinger, clutch cover, stem, bars, hubs, spindles, so on and so forth. Also looking to either buy a set of stock plastics and get a hood and lose the stock lights, or go with a set of after market plastics.


I'm leaning towards this so far:

Frame/subframe - Gold or Red
Spindles - Gold or Red
Hubs - Gold or Red
Upper arms - Gold or Red
Lower arms Black
Swinger - Black
Wheels - Black
Plastics - White/Silver???????

OR

Plastics - Red
Tank - Natural
Wheels - Chrome
Hubs/Spindles - Red
Frame/Subframe/Swinger - ???????


Just looking into some input as to what would look good. It has black plastics right now, and I am going to avoid black plastics (except maybe the tank) and avoid a black frame. I might entertain the idea of black plastics if I can refinish the ones that are currently on it, but not looking to buy new ones.

Also, Looking for information on polishing the case and head as well as the exhaust while it is out of the frame at PC.

Last but not least, I want to find out what I can take off as far as un-necessary parts go, I.E. Heel guards, skid plate, brake covers, all that kind of stuff. Not looking to make it lighter, just to reduce some of the clutter as far as wiring and excess parts goes.

This bike will be mainly ridden in the dunes.

I think Candy Blue frames and white plastic with blue/black and white graphics look sick.... black nerfs, bumper and gb.

Im thinking Red Frame, White plastics, White carbon hood, natural tank IMS, Black swinger, black lower arms, red or black Hubs/Spindles, Black bars, black bumper, QuadTech desert seat, and black or chrome wheels or beadlocks.

Looking for a simple graphics kit, something that doesnt say anything other than maybe TRX. Or use the Stock 09 Front kit.

Looks like you are going towards red/black. I love the gold concept though, especially if you like the old 86 250r. Go to K&K Racing. They race with a machine with the gold swingarm/a arms with red frame and white plastic. Looks great all together.

Im definitely not opposed to the goldd. Im just not sure how it is going to look with white plastics and a gold frame.

I do like this red frame with gold arms and gold swinger. Red hood and red seat. Only thing, I had a red seat once and it ended up getting dirty from my black pants.

I love the white one with the red plastic nosepiece/seat. Agree about the gold frame...keep it red like they did. classic!!

Been a toss up between the white and red, but I still like the Honda Red the best.

You think the red plastics will hold up better than the white? As far as scratches, dirt and fading?

The white will turn brown over time. I think my red looked better at the end of last year then my white rear did at the end of 08 for sure.
