I am interested in getting into racing but am on a strict budget with a little boy and wife to support at the same time(as im sure im not the only one with life responsibilities) I was just curious as to what to expect by going the cross country route and doing it just for fun but to be competitive as possible with what i have to work with. I have a z 400 and currently it just has full yosh exhaust, pro taper bars, and k&n filter. what are the priority mods to do to make it more race ready? Like stated i have limited funds so I would like to do the "must have" first and try it out and see how i do/how i like it before dropping major coin on an ltr 450 or modding the z to be fairly competitive. For the series I think i will run IXC or MWXC.

you must have gas in the tank.

dude..I ran my first year in the midsouth series with a bone stock 400ex. I won several races and most of my competitors were on highly modified quads.

just go out there and have fun.
