6 speed ex ?

This may be a dumb question but, is there a way to make the ex a six speed and get rid of the reverse gear?

I don’t know, I may just be a speed freak but I always find myself trying to hit that phantom sixth gear and I still cant find it!!!!

I do that as well on my 416.

My quad used to be my only mode of transportation before I had my license. I had that issue all the time riding down the back roads.

I just geared mine really tall so that it couldn't pull 5th gear and never had the urge to look for that phantom sixth.

I was running 16/36 and 22 inch balloon tires from a 300EX. Topped out at 84 on the road.

But to answer your question, I don't think it's possible.

Having a 6th gear won't help...

Banshee's are 6-speeds, and I always find myself searching for that phantom "7th" gear. haha.

seams like there was a thread about this a quite a while back, but i don't think anything ever got decided.

i know the thread was talking about the a empty spot in the 99-04 ex's gearbox, and that its filled with the reverse from 05 and up. like honda had planed to put a 6 gear or revese from day 1 but didn't use it right away.

also it seams like a company somewhere does the convereison. sand drag racing?

I remember that thread also, If you had a severe machine shop and alot of know how, Im sure it could be accomplished.

But think about it, youd have to almost customize the entire gear box, shift linkage, etc....

It would be sweet if you could though...lol.

I always thought that it would be cool to set up some kind of gear train like on a 10 speed bicycle. Another 10 or 18 speeds on top of the 5 in the motor could make for fun! Just not sure how you could set it up or even get parts to hold up lol.

dmc 400ex your so right 6th gear dont help them sheeees when thay get beat bye some thing with only 5 gears. and that just what thay are sheeeeeeeees. lol

or a 240bb ported n piped blaster geard lol try keepin up wid that i had one all done up and i deat 400s and keep up wid my buds outlaw 525 it was gps at 78.6mph lol wish i kept it but it was a death machine eing so little its come up to fast but back on topic it the six gear was taller than fith for sure itd help if it was all the same ratios wid a taller 6th but thats just a dream lmao

you cant because the reverse gear is actually the 1st gear it just spins backwards
