All I know is this is a 38mm Mikuni. Maybe alcohol? Can anyone tell me anymore about this carb and would it be a good carb to send out to be bored to a 40.5mm?
The markings on it are: T38,,,HO,,,X1

Ok then what is that thing that goes through the intake side with the spring and screw on top and a nipple coming from the side of it?

How can I tell if it is an alcohol carb?

It is a 38 Mikuni TM series carburetor. It has a power jet which could be used for gas but most times it set up for methanol. You need to take the bowl off, main jet and take out the needle jet to see if it has been drilled. Take the slide out. The needle jet is pushed out the bottom and comes out where the slide goes in. If it has been set up for methanol you can replace the needle jet with a new one and run gasoline with no problems. If it was a keihin and set up for methanol you could not convert it back to gas. Part #37
