I have an 05 450r looking to put a 06 or newer swingarm on it. What all do I need or do I need to do to make it work?

You will need the swinger, linkage, and shock. However, I don't believe the stock shock will work. The reservoir was tweaked a little bit between the years because of differences in the cases. That will have to verified by someone else. I know that one will swap to the other year, but swapping the opposite way, the reservoir will hit the case. The 04/05 linkage and shock will bolt up to the 06+ swinger, but it won't work correctly.

Other than that, everything else will swap right over, including the carrier and axle components.

If I remember correctly from what I have read, a 06 and newer shock will work no problem on a 04/05, along with the 06 and newer linakge and swingarm. A 04/05 stock shock will not bolt up to a 06 and newer 450R due to the case being different because of the e-start.

Since you are using 06 and newer stuff on a 05, should be no problem. As Scro said, you just need the shock, linkage, and swingarm, everything else from your 05 can be reused.

What Scro is saying is that you cant use a 450ER rear shock. Otherwise, you will smoke the schrader valve clean off. The rear shock res. are a different offset compared to a kicker to a ER.
