Its been a long time and I have been outta the game for 3 yrs. I need help picking a Honda 450 and want a carb, kickstart model. What should I pay and what year do I want to get??

If there are any known issues with recomended year I would appreciate a heads up on that as well. I dont mind buying from SC/NC/TN/VA/WV so a recomended dealer would be great. I really like that black and blue lookin plastic. I found one for $5499 but that seems steep as when I sold out I could get YFZ 450s for $5200 out the door in OHIO. (3yrs ago)

I am glad to be back and cant wait to get riding again.:macho

the kawis are trash, if you havent noticed, joel is the only one thats still on them. they cost too much to only be able to keep running 50% of the time

I thought the Kawi sounded high maintainance, and not a Suzuki fan either. So I guess its Yami or Honda, but I like Hondas myself. Just nice to only have one cam,and less junk inside.

Is those prices in Washington PA???? Do you have a dealer name and contact info on that deal??

Sorry,i should have been more specific.Washington state. I think they are even cheaper in Oregon. Not sure it helps,I don't know the cost of shipping a atv.

i live in jersey the dealer ship close to my place never has any 450s they fly out of there. i know cycle world in cherry hill sells 08 left overs in ebay for like 5gs.

i just bought an 05 last month that all it needed was a valve adjustment for 2100. already had a pipe, gusset kit, and a few other things.

If I could get out the door with one for 5gs I guess I would say thats a deal. Especially if the $4200.00 price was before any BS fees and taxes were applied. I will check that out. I realize that I could possibly save some dough going with a used one, but I always end up wishing I would have bought new stuff to start a build just because of the beatin most people give these things, and the fact that I have peace of mind in the fact that I built it.
Also when it comes to all of the bolt ons that are put on many used quads, makes it hard to know where to get replacement wear parts.Suspension not setup for my weight or needing serviced and so on. I have found some nice used quads for around 7gs.

if you can afford buy 2 One to ride and one to put away still in crate, in ten years when all the 04-09s are all used up, and we are all talking about the good old days when they made 450s you will have a classic!! cause this is the last 450 honda will make thats even at all close to being race ready!!

think back to 89 dont you wish you bought one just to save? now you have that chance!!

Anything can be trash if you dont take care of it like you should.

Are you referring to Kawi? if so they are the worst engineered quad that I have worked on!! and need the highest amount of maintenance and are terrible to even clean!! it seems like there wasn't any thought about ease of maintenance put into the 450!!!

I wouldn't buy one unless it was very cheap!!!!

there are great deals to be had if you look for them. i have 1550 into my 04 honda 450 including the houser steering stem i installed into it. basically i put a crank in it and a stem, i also powder coated the wheels. just look and you too could find a deal. and yes that includes every dollar i have invested except fuel and oil

I know this sounds unbelieveable but a friend of mind bought a left over 07 (brand new) for $3500. The dealer bought it from another dealer that was going out of business. I paid $6000 for my 06 brand new.

Honda of Chattanooga, TN has two 08's left. One white, one red. Both electric start. $5199. I was thinking about going that route until I found an 08 loaded up for a deal.
