71-90 production modified clarification
I know alot of you guy's know this rule book in and out and thats why I ask you . We are running a series here in TN in class 71-90 production modified is how it is worded in the "classes" offered.
rules say they are going to go by AMA guidelines in this class. There is a Hondie trx 90 in the class that the owner has admitted is a 125cc even though it has the 90 cyl (stock appearing) it has been bored and stroked to at least a 125 is this legal in this class even though the class is 71-90?????? we can hang but these holeshots are killing us.

I may be wrong but I think AMA allows 125cc displacement for thumpers to race against 90cc 2 strokes.

Rob,
in the main rulebook it says they are but what has me puzzled is in the 2010 supplemental rules updated 12-15-09 in section c sub part 6 it states that they may be bored and stroked as long as it does not exceed the class limit. so is that 90 or 125?????
I guess I am going to send them an e-mail for a ruling that I can print out on their letterhead and take to the track if it rules in our favor.

On the chart that I see it rules on 3 classes: Class 8 (90 Stock), Class 9 (90 Production), and Class 10 (90 Mod) they all state 71-90cc 2 stroke and 75-125cc 4 stroke.

Calling it "Production Modified" is a can of worms in itself. The AMA seperates the two words and are not used together. Production is one kind while Modified is another. I would say Modifieds would be allowed to run also.

jandjracing,
That's kinda how I read into it. some of the things you can't do or mod in production it says you can in mod sooooo ?????
I am going to request they make a class name change before next years race series, it's not bothering me so much in our class but there is some trouble a brewin in the fitty class:rolleyes:

Haha, come to the dark side... lol

From what I've been reading though can't 50's mod up to 70's and 70's mod up to 90's and race in production? Honda doesn't make a 125cc bike so it would be the same as modding up to make it a 125.
