OK Guys,
Been running the Bando 787x16x30 in our 90
and am thinking about running the Malossi 6112742
belt (which is 793x16.8x30 I guess).
So, if it is a little wider will it fray the sides
of the belt ??? I tried another belt that is slightly
wider (16.5) and saw a little fraying on the side of the belt.
Just wondered if that is normal or do I need to think
about not switching. Just looking at the kevlar to hold up better.
Looking for some thoughts here.
Thanks !!!

A little fraying is normal. No worries.

usually when you run a wider belt you need to shim the variator.

running 2 shims already.

We don't run shims with our 787 belts...generally not needed..

Some mod the variator (cutting the face or where the belt drops down)

Is yours stock?

The Malossi belt is wider so more shims would be needed for the additional width.

Good luck

it's a Dr. Pulley variator - not modified.

I had 1 possibly 2 (.5mm) shims to in it with the same variator

with a 787/16 belt we ran no shims, my guess would be that if you went to the 793/16.8 belt then you would need to shim
