Well I had to take the steering knuckle off my bike and there is a tapered piece on both the top and bottom of the knuckle. If you look down through the oem parts catalog for the bike and go under suspension, front it is part number 2. Anyway I need to know if there is a specific torque that that has to go to or just so its good and snug. Instinct tells me tapered piece means certain torque. I don't have the service manual for the bike and don't have time to wait for it to get to me...need to ride this weekend!

I looked through my service manual and it has nothing on torque for the steering stem.

The tapered pieces going into the top and bottom of the knuckle (spindle) are ball joints. The torque is 35 ft/lbs.
