2004 YFZ 450 Leaking Gas

Hi, I was wondering why my 2004 Yamaha YFZ 450 keeps leaking gas out of the over flow tube for the carb. I have heard that it is most likely just something stuck in the carb bowl or the float sticking. I was wondering if anyone could provide step by step information on the easiest way to remove/access the carb bowl. I know a certain way to do it, but I need a backup plan. Also, how come the gas does this if I don't ride it for a month or so. Is it just cause the carb gets dirty on the inside where the gas is suppose to go through?

tap on the side of the carb with a screwdriver and see if it stops. probably a sticking float. the gas goes bad from sitting for a while and gums up the jets and little moving parts in there
