I've read a few articles on putting the 450r shock on the 400ex. Some say it bolts right on, others say it hits the airbox. Anyone have some clarification on this? Is it due to some people using the 450r linkage and others not? One last thing, the 450r seems like it sits lower than my 400ex. With the 450r shock and likage will this affect my right height? Any input would be great, thanks!

I'm referring to the rear shock btw. Not saying anyone didn't catch on that by the linkage and airbox comments haha. Thanks

I put one on my wifes 400,don't remember what year i think it came off an 06r.It dropped the rear alot and rode like crap.Didn't have the 450r link, don't know if that helps or not.

You will loose suspension travel if you install the 450 shock on the 400ex

The stock 450R rear shock is almost 1" shorter than the 400ex rear shock and you will lose travel like Colby said.
