What might be the problem of my engine ticking. is it usual on 400's or what could it be. its like a rhythmic ticking. its kinda loud. it just started doing it not to long ago and just thought i would check in on it and see what it could be

check your valve clearances.
mine was off by .003" and there was a huge difference in noise; a LOT louder.

intake - .004"
exhaust - .005"

However i don't know enough about 4 strokes as to why they would come out of adjustment....

your 400 will always tick.Adjust your valves.It will quiet down alittle.When they get loud again,it's time to adjust again.

there are many useful articles in the section listed on the top for oil changes, timing key install, valve adjustment, a few 450 things also. check it out op. steve
